Sweet!

Check this out - I finally received them most awaited pics from Bob

This is Bob’s 48 caliber baby! Much lighter than the other guns I fired that day…

And this was the revolver I shot… look at all those empty shells - these are not even half of the number of bullets I fired :D :D - was feeling like a cowboy lol

BTW, juts to mention a funny incident that day - when I first loaded a magazine into the pistol - the very first time - I inserted it in the reverse direction - such that, the pointed side of bullets were pointed towards me - confused that how should I get the magazine out without cocking the gun, I showed it to Bob - who couldnt help smiling at me before he showed me the right way lol - that was real funny - I hope no one else gets that magazine in wrong direction :D - its scary - the very first time you hold a gun & the bullet points towards you hahaha

Lock & Load Baby!

From left - Sunanda, Matthias, Nathan, Don (our boss’s boss), me and Chris. Missing from the pic is Shraddha - who i guess is behind the cam :)

We were up against some guys who could fire upto 15 shots per sec per trigger - sadly enough, our guns could do only 1 shot per tirgger :(

PS: This was one odd day when Rails was resting in the yard :D

Back from Denver - hot on Rails!

What a week it was! 3 days of some awesome Rails coverage - & I am all set to write my app :)

Class notes from the training are here -they are kinda cryptic so might not be all usefull but just in case ;)

If you plan to get into indeapth stuff, try the second edition of Agile Development with Rails - its an awesome book with a good example to fiddle with! All of what was taught in the training (apart from the real world scenarios discussions) can be pretty much found in the book. A nice subsitute for the training if you cannot set aside those $1500 :D

Before ending, the pragmatic studio had something for me…

From the Rails studio…

Good morning :)

I am in Denver right now, the Rails Studio is about to start in 30 minutes… I was waiting for this training from past 2 months now - good to be here.

And gues what? Each one’s got a cool Rails T-shirt - which’s going to be one helluva source of evny for everyone back in Pune :D

Back to the studio… Pictures would be up soon!

[update]

Oh boy! I am surrounded by Mac’s - 90% attendees have a Mac here lol - this is one big difference between dev’s in India & US ;)

Locating a Jain Mandir in Atlanta

Atlanta even has a Jain Society - I was struck by this revelation when Greg forwarded me its URL & I just had to visit it once I am in Atlanta - however far it could have been…

…& it turned out that I did not had to travel too much. Reaching the Jain Temple was easy. Where ever you are in Atlanta, get onto Marta and head over to the Doraville Station (NE10) and get youself transfered to the Number 10 Marta bus. Request the driver to drop you just before the crossing of “Buford Hwy NW” and “Jimmy Carter Blvd NW (140)”. You should be able to see a small cut in the road to your left, which goes inwards into the trees. If you follow the road, you should be able to find the Temple on your right in about just 500m walk - isnt that simple? - sure yeah! We spent from 3pm to 9pm finding it :D - a big thanks to Jaggu to accompany me haha, he sure was tired when we got back ;)

Here are some shots from _that_ adventure trip…

The Temple…

Entrance to the Mandir

Shrinivas (met him on the Marta) and Jaggu (Jagdish)

A not to be missed shot… at the stairs!

Some other memorable moments…

Jaggu met his love - the Cadillac

The cow which got us thinking that what the heck wasnt it moving? - we waited for 3 minutes, constantly staring at it to move atleast something - before announcing it to be a replica :D

Fast forward to today!

This image explains it all - http://www.makuchaku.info/blog is nowhere in my URL history list :(

I need a sudden gust of energy to blog, an instant feeling of expressing myself to the world! Coming to US, clicking all the pictures here & there, watching all the slick cars & the _bikes_, working on super cool Rails project, riding my __bike__ & getting lost on the way, eating popcorns all day long, etc — was just not giving me that energy boost!

But a few minutes ago was different! I just managed to get Stomp The Yard and I am going to watch it tonight! I can feel that energy level - to share my excitement with the world :D

IMDB has a rating of just 3.1/10 for the movie - I dont care! I loved the choreography I saw in the trailers, i loved the story buildup I saw - & I am going to watch it first thing tonight after I finish the dinner :D

Oh yes, talking of dinner, I must say, Anand (my roomy here) is an awesome cook! I’ve been telling him for days now to junk our present jobs in favour of opening an Indian Veg restaurant in US lol :) (I hope that would have been technically possible hehe)

PS: My manager is going to kill me if he reads this blog hahaha

Neverthless, US is good for a laid back life, making money (everything multiplied by 40 ;) ), fast cars, cheap electronics, lots of junk food, free popcorns, hot chicks, gay fraternity (if you are interested :P lol), nights out - …but nothing beats India! :)

BTW my Atlanta picture gallery is here - http://www.zoto.com/makuchaku/albums/10025

So… lets stomp the yard tonight! Yeah!
