Cooking up Project DRailed!
September 26th, 2007
Cannot give much details now, but configuring Drupal is so freaking nice - you have plugins for everything you can ever imagine! I just wish it was written in Rails or had a rails connector of some sort - so that I could interface my stuff without any hesitation
I’m almost at the stage where I can start thinking about how my Rails app would connect with Drupal. Its going to be an interesting challenge. Should I be screen scrapping or SQL’ing - thats a design decision I would have to make - lots would depend on that…
BTW, checkout the following plugins for Drupal. They would really REALLY make your life easier… views, panels, tinymce, xtracker - they have a bit of learning curve - but nothing that one cannot climb in an hour of just good reading
Drupal + Rails = DRailed!
Status update : Web interface for stage 1 is almost up, a few more tweaks and I can then start hitting the Rails track ![]()

Back from Denver - hot on Rails!
September 25th, 2007
What a week it was! 3 days of some awesome Rails coverage - & I am all set to write my app
Class notes from the training are here -they are kinda cryptic so might not be all usefull but just in case
If you plan to get into indeapth stuff, try the second edition of Agile Development with Rails - its an awesome book with a good example to fiddle with! All of what was taught in the training (apart from the real world scenarios discussions) can be pretty much found in the book. A nice subsitute for the training if you cannot set aside those $1500
Before ending, the pragmatic studio had something for me…

Good morning
I am in Denver right now, the Rails Studio is about to start in 30 minutes… I was waiting for this training from past 2 months now - good to be here.
And gues what? Each one’s got a cool Rails T-shirt - which’s going to be one helluva source of evny for everyone back in Pune
Back to the studio… Pictures would be up soon!

Oh boy! I am surrounded by Mac’s - 90% attendees have a Mac here lol - this is one big difference between dev’s in India & US
