The bleeding edge…

December 27th, 2006

I had to wait for one full day for this update to apply… after resolving numerous deps, waiting for Python 2.5, Gnome 2.17.2 rocks!

In a state of pure joy!

December 21st, 2006

Just fixed Gnome Bz 385414 with this one line patch!

I was revolving around & around this line but not actually getting to it for about 6 days now! Initially I was following pure debugging approach to see how the bug is getting into the code, why i18n chars are being displayed as “???” when viewing message source… but was getting nowhere!

Then I decided to follow the approach I took in solving Gnome Bz 355766. I studied that why the bug (385414) was only in view source & not in normal message display. If Camel was to blame, the error would have been in the both views! Hence, I compared how is the implementation for both differing? & this led me straight to the html filter being added to the stream in function efh_format_source … & voila! Changing “CAMEL_MIME_FILTER_TOHTML_ESCAPE_8BIT” to “CAMEL_MIME_FILTER_TOHTML_PRESERVE_8BIT” did the trick!

Sometimes… solving a bug really means hacking the code!

Buggy screenshot and fixed screenshot.

Rajgadh & Torna in Mission Impossible style!

December 15th, 2006

Rajgadh, torna trek - Dec 2006
The team, ofcource which is missing Me & Bhargav as we were out saving a bitch from other dogs!

Rajgadh, torna trek - Dec 2006
As Ravi had put it - The tennis players on their all fours + a dog! Thats me followed by Sanjulee. Our shoes were so slippery that we had to use all our might to increase the friction! Those PVC soles suck when trekking!

What you see from the top is just worth all the effort! Have you ever seen the moon travel all the way from behind you to set down behind the hill in front of you? Simply spell bounding! Even the Sun rise was so amazing!

The dogs followed us right from the starting to the ending of the trek!

Rajgadh, torna trek - Dec 2006
We did the final (almost final) ascent in exactly MI-3 style! Bare handed with nothing beneath us, but the depths of the valley, we climbed that rocky edge! Being phobic of heights myself, I was bit scared in the middle of the climb, but believe me, nothing feels like looking your worst fear in the eye! & squashing it right there makes you float with joy! literally!

Me @ Torna top

Celebrating on the top after killing that phobia of mine! [ugh, please dont look at us from the cleanliness point! You dont look so clean when you’ve trekked all night & walked on all your fours!]

Getting back down to the plains was not easier either! Though I was the first one to set my foot on the plains after covering about 12 kms of trek, starting from 8:40 in the night to 10:10 in the morning, walking nonstop!

Trust me, if you ever get a chance to go for a night trek, dont miss it. The experience is completely different when trekking in the night… specially when you aim to cover two forts in one night… usually which trekkers cover in two separate treks.

Thanks to Bathe, Bhargav, Sanjulee, Ritesh for the pics. Special thanks for Bathe to organize this trek!
